One is the Triplicity method and the other is the Chaldean method. What you have referred is called the Triplicity method, what I used in this article is based solely on the Chaldean method. The sortition of the planetary hours are also based on the Chaldean order. The Chaldean order is based on the speed of the planets in their apparent motion around the sun. They are in the order of Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Sun, Venus, Mercury and the Moon. While the Chaldean method agrees with the Triplicity to assign the first decan of Aries to Mars, the second Decan is assigned to the Sun and the third to Venus, and so forth. So, I was not presenting a deliberate blind or misleading the public by using the Chaldean method for assigning ruling planets to the Decans. There are often more than one way to ascribe meaning in planetary and astrological magic, and this is one of them.Frater.Barrabbashttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11689013897789072360noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6817682567561164198.post-78894018250846401972022-09-29T19:40:28.227-05:002022-09-29T19:40:28.227-05:00Hi, I was searching for information on the Minor A...Hi, I was searching for information on the Minor Arcana of tarot, and its relation to astrology, when I came across your Zodiacal Decans diagram. Thank you for posting it. It's very interesting to me, because I realized that the 36 cards shown are of course 12signs x 3decans, but also 56 minor arcana - 20, which is the four aces, and 16 court cards Pages, Knights, Queens and Kings.
I also like how the cards follow on from one another 2,3,4, then 5,6,7, then 8,9,10 in different elements.
What I am querying however, is the planetary rulership of each decan/minor card. I was taught in astrology that the first decan was ruled by the planetary ruler of the sign, for example, first decan of Aries is ruled by the ruler of Aries itself, which is Mars, which you have on your diagram. The second decan of Aries would be ruled by the next Fire Sign, which is Leo, and the ruler of Leo is the Sun, which you also have. And the 3rd decan of Aries is Sagittarius ruled, so its planetary ruler would be Jupiter. But you have Venus. Why? Is this an intentional blind, as I've heard the Golden Dawn was fond of doing?
Then you've got another mix up with Taurus. The first decan would be ruled by the ruler of Taurus itself, which is Venus, but you've got Mercury. Mercury should ,by astrological reasoning rule the second decan of Taurus, becuase this sector would be assigned to the next Earth Sign Virgo, ruled by Mercury. The only Taurus decan you seem to have correct, according to the astrology I learned, is the 3rd decan, ruled by Saturn, because it is the planetary ruler of the third Earth sign from Taurus, Capricorn.
I see similar mix-ups in all the sign decans and as mentioned above, I wonder if this is a deliberate blind, as it just doesn't fit with astrology, unless I'm missing something really esoteric.
Thanks for any explanation - I see that your post is twelve years old, so don't know if you still keep up with these comments.
Gladyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03946244579050385229noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6817682567561164198.post-71066322615134405522017-06-29T07:38:36.337-05:002017-06-29T07:38:36.337-05:00Very interesting read, thank you.
